Community organization Hoosac Harvest announces its annual seedling swap and fundraiser will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 1, 2019, outside 85 Main St., North Adams, Mass.
Community members are invited to bring seedlings to swap, or to come without seedlings and just choose offerings for their spring gardens. All seedlings are free–you don’t need to bring some to swap to take some home. Donations to Hoosac Harvest are encouraged.
Past seedling swaps have featured local wildflowers, heirloom tomatoes, herbs, peppers, eggplants, perennials, and more. Whether you’re dropping off seedlings to swap or coming to browse, it’s a good idea to bring a tray in which to collect your new plant babies.
All donations go toward subsidizing CSA shares—weekly “shares” of a local farmer’s produce over the course of an annual growing season—for people in our community. CSA share holders receive a weekly, reasonable amount of seasonal vegetables, enough for two adults with one to two children, or two veggie lovers. Some subsidized or lower cost CSA shares are still available.
To see if you qualify, contact Hoosac Harvest via firstname.lastname@example.org or 413-664-4006 after 6 p.m. Subsidized shares are based on income and ranges from $225-325 for the entire 20-week season. Payment plans are available to spread your payments over the season and payment by EBT/SNAP is available.
