On Saturday, July 19 from 10am-3pm, discover what’s happening in the front and back yards of your neighbors. From terraced gardens to kombucha, an orchard to berry bushes, goats to bees, community oven to community garden, discover the wonders of growing and making your own during Hoosac Harvest’s second annual North Berkshire Homestead Tour.

Tickets are $15 per carload and support subsidized shares at two Community Supported Agriculture farms: Many Forks Farm in Clarksburg and Square Roots Farm in Lanesborough. Tickets are available at Shima Boutique, North Adams and Wild Oats Market in Williamstown or email

“The Homestead Tour is an extreme garden tour,” says Caroline Scully, Hoosac Harvest core group member. “It’s a chance to take a peek at small and large homesteads while supporting the work of Hoosac Harvest whose mission is access to local food for everyone.”

The guidebook is the ticket that will direct participants to locations in Williamstown and North Adams. Participants are encouraged to visit gardens in any order that they would like. The owner(s) will be present to answer questions about how they do what they do and the tour will operate rain or shine. Two of the gardens feature free raffles including books from Storey Publishing and home-grown yarn.

The tour runs through the lunch hour and participants are encouraged to bring a picnic and plan a break, maybe stopping at a local park. Some hosts may be offering refreshments, and there from 12-3pm there will be samples at the North Adams Community Oven.
